COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 11, 2026) – USA Shooting’s next generation of Olympic hopefuls proved they belong among the world’s best at the 2026 ISSF Junior World Championships in Suhl, Germany. Competing against 808 athletes representing 66 countries and 70 ISSF Member Federations, Team USA returned home with six medals, including two gold, one silver, and three bronze, while adding multiple finals appearances and top-five team finishes across rifle, pistol, and shotgun.
The performances in Suhl underscored the continued strength of USA Shooting’s athlete development pipeline, with juniors gaining invaluable international experience while competing against the world’s top young talent on the road to future Olympic success.
Leading the way was the rifle trio of Griffin Lake, Braden Peiser, and Tyler Wee, who delivered one of the most dominant performances of the championships. The Americans captured the Junior Men’s 50m Rifle Three Positions Team world title while setting a new Junior World Record with a combined score of 1764-107x.
The trio continued its remarkable week by earning silver in the Junior Men’s 10m Air Rifle Team event before adding bronze in the Junior Men’s 50m Rifle Prone Team competition, bringing home three team medals across the championships.
Lake also claimed an individual world title in Junior Men’s 50m Rifle Prone, winning gold after setting a new Junior World Record qualification score of 632.1. Teammate Braden Peiser joined him on the podium with the bronze medal, giving Team USA two of the three medals awarded in the event.
In shotgun, Ava Downs and Kaleb Horinek earned bronze in the Junior Trap Mixed Team event, showcasing Team USA’s depth beyond the rifle range and securing the nation’s sixth medal of the championships.
The success extended well beyond the podium. Americans reached finals throughout the competition, with Eva Allan finishing sixth in Junior Women’s Air Pistol, Madeline Corbin placing sixth in Junior Women’s Skeet, Taylor Dale taking seventh in Junior Women’s Trap, Tyler Wee finishing seventh in Junior Men’s 10m Air Rifle and eighth in Junior Men’s 50m Rifle Three Positions, and Kaleb Horinek placing eighth in Junior Men’s Trap.
Team USA also posted impressive team performances outside the medal standings. Eva Allan, Sophie Li, and Danae Bell placed fifth in the Junior Women’s 10m Air Pistol Team event, while Karlie Lynn, Liz Probst, and Carley Seabrook earned fifth in the Junior Women’s 50m Rifle Prone Team competition.
The six-medal performance highlighted more than individual achievements. From record-breaking rifle performances to podium finishes in shotgun and finalists across all three Olympic disciplines, Team USA demonstrated the depth of its junior talent and the continued success of its athlete development pathway. As these athletes gain valuable international experience, they are building the foundation for future World Championship, Olympic, and Paralympic success on the road to Los Angeles 2028 and beyond.
